I got married this year!! What happens when a wedding planner gets married you ask? Most people think big, lavish wedding, but what was most important to Joe and I was our families getting to spend time together in a place we love. With Joe having called Grand County home for over twenty years, me being a Colorado native, and having met while sitting on the Board of Directors for the Granby Chamber of Commerce, we knew we wanted to get married where are hearts are; Grand County.
Other criteria for finding a venue was that it had onsite lodging for family in order to make it easy for elderly family to attend and that we could support local vendors. We were incredibly lucky, during the busiest wedding season in years and with just five months notice, to have found such a wonderful, intimate mountain venue for our small wedding. Both the ceremony and tented reception were held on three wooded acres in the Rocky Mountains at the Wild Horse Inn in Fraser, Colorado, with stunning views of the Continental Divide.
My beautiful ladies were dressed in jade green dresses from Revelry, while Joe and the boys were looking dapper in black suits by Generation Tux and jade ties and pocket squares by Revelry. I found THE dress by Madi Lane at LUV Bridal and Abbey at Rocky Mountain Design House put in so many hours of work to make it perfect!
Having planned so many weddings over the past 16 years, I had a pretty good idea of decor elements I loved and wanted to incorporate into my own wedding. I love texture and knew that velvet linen was going to be a must at my wedding. Several years ago I fell in love with the mallard velvet linen from BBJ Linen and centered my wedding design around this gorgeous, lush linen. While Joe and I love the mountains, I am not a “rustic” girl, so I wanted to convey simple elegance in all of our decor. From the show stopping blush and greenery floral pillars by The Stalk Market to the elegant taper candles to the classic crystal chandeliers from Event Rents, an elegant mountain wedding was created.
Additional Details included gold containers filled with coffee beans as table numbers, ivory chiffon runners placed on velvet runners for additional texture, mallard chiffon chair ties for the ceremony, stunning cake by The Cake Maker, amazing semi-custom letterpress wedding invitations by Sal Studios, and memory charms on the stunning bouquet by The Stalk Market.
Want some free wedding planning advice from one bride to another? Don’t sweat the small stuff. Trust me, I had many moments where my wedding planner brain took over the day of and I look back at photos and see several imperfections. However, my day was perfect because I married “my person” and got to celebrate with the people who will love and support us throughout our marriage. Remember that it truly isn’t about the wedding, but the marriage.

Thank you so much Susan! We had an intimate group of family and very close friends. With COVID still in the picture, we wanted to ensure our guests were comfortable and safe. I hope you are well!

TeNeil was very patient and communicative throughout the entire wedding planning process. I have no idea how she did it, but she was always there to help us through the entire process and [was] super responsive.
She is always on time (early even) and takes care of all of the vendor, caterer, and venue logistics and set-up. I'm never worried that something will go wrong, and that's thanks in large part to her work day-of. TeNeil is a pro.
